The Long Term
It is my opinion that the long term has run the gamut. The long term is dead, the strategy no longer viable. Whatever your opinion, archaic techniques of buy and hold leaves so much on the table in terms of potential money management. The buy and hold approach means suffering through repeated ravages of bear markets and the slow climb back to break even. The volatility of this unstable world will see to that. Investors must seriously ponder their stock market activities going forwards. Those strategies worked well for many years, but the future will lead to more frequent declines.
However, the stock markets are alive and as vibrant as ever and they will continue to make us wealthy. The role of investor and advisor has become more complex, and we better be up for the challenge. Investing must be mechanical and emotionless, and we must never forget capital preservation.
